The Parks and Recreation Division offers after-school recreation programs for elementary school-aged children. These programs provide planned, organized, and supervised activities designed to meet the recreational needs of children that attend.

On any given day, you may find children participating in homework assistance, outdoor and indoor physical play, playing board games, and creating arts 'n crafts.

Programs and activities that are offered include Pee Wee Cheerleading, Pee Wee and Youth Sports, field trips, and various special events. The El Monte Parks and Recreation Division offers a mentorship and leadership program for El Monte teens grades 7thth who are interested in enhancing life and work skills and gaining hands-on training.

The emphasis is on leadership development, teamwork, professionalism, and building self-confidence. Teens gain exposure to leadership development topics such as goal setting, communication, and decision-making. Junior Recreation Leaders have the opportunity to work side by side with recreation staff in our recreation programs and events.
